Personal Statement
My work reflects simple geometrical shapes with a
combination of ‘non –crisp’ straight, diagonal lines and
angles resulting in large-scale jewellery. The
simplicity of designs and shapes is often accentuated by
vibrant colours. A subject matter often forms the focus
of a collection with each piece of jewellery emitting
‘playfulness’ with the subject matter.
Influences derive from everything around me but with an
interest in areas that nourish the tendency towards
simplicity. My interest in the work of Joan Miro, where
lines, shapes and motifs form the backbone of his work
were the building blocks for my first collection.
I work mainly with silver and other metals which have a
strong tradition in the field of jewellery, but also
with a combination of materials, frequently using
enameling techniques to express my visual language and
inspiration.
My jewellery is to be worn by ‘ordinary’
people, while each piece has a particular
characteristic. The simple lines and shapes
produce forms which become an extension of the wearer,
thereby highlighting individuality.
I graduated from London Metropolitan University
with an HND in Jewellery silversmithing and allied
crafts, having also attended numerous jewellery short
courses at St Martin’s college.
I was born in Cyprus but now live in Athens, where in
January 2009 I set up my own workshop designing
and making jewellery.
